When I look at The Pine, I don't just see a forest—I feel the crisp, biting wind of late autumn and hear the quiet, steady heartbeat of the ancient woods. I wanted to capture not just what a landscape looks like, but how it makes the soul vibrate.

The towering pines are our anchors. They reach up into the sky, stoic and deeply grounded in rich, dark greens and heavy charcoals. But beneath them is where the true passion of the season erupts. I let pure, raw feeling guide my hand here, layering thick, unapologetic strokes of fiery oranges, brilliant golds, and shocking crimsons. It’s a chaotic, beautiful dance of color—a celebration of life and warmth pushing back against the encroaching chill.

The technique is meant to be felt, not just seen. Using heavy impasto, I applied the paint thickly with a palette knife so that the canvas breathes with physical texture. I want you to be able to almost feel the rough, jagged bark of the trees and the heavy, damp crunch of the vibrant forest floor.

Even the sky refuses to be a passive backdrop. It is a fragmented, emotional symphony of lilacs, soft pinks, and icy blues—reflecting the complicated, bittersweet feelings of change, transition, and the fleeting beauty of nature. This piece isn't just paint on a surface; it’s a piece of my spirit, left wild and vivid on the canvas.
